Hot Quit Newsletter, Issue #030: Red tips, red lips, finger-tips.
January 31, 2008
Hi

Newsletter No. 30: Red tips, red lips, finger-tips.

Here we are with your February 2008 Newsletter from
The Ultimate Quit Smoking Guide

A quote to think about...

Confucius say, "He who waits for roast duck to fly into mouth,
wait very long time."

Just like me say, "Smoker who wait for magic pill to fix habit,
wait short time, as don't live long time."

Soothing smoothies
Well actually our webpage is called Doozy Smoothies. Hope you've seen it, and more importantly, as you quit smoking, tried out the recipes to soooothe any throat irritations left from smoking. They're proven winners.

I've just found a new smoothie for you, especially for those in the summer part of the world. And by the way, for about 3 days without nicotine your blood sugar tends to go awry, and it helps to have acidic type fruit and juices to stabilize your system. Cranberries and juice are tops, but this one's a doozy too — here you go:

Frozen two fruits
- 2 cups fresh raspberries, or try other berries (or frozen, but leave out the ice)
- Crushed ice for cooling if desired
- 1 cup pineapple juice (incl pineapple pieces if desired)
Lightly blend raspberries so they are finely chopped, but not mush, then add pineapple juice, stir and serve in a punch bowl or glasses.

Beautiful advertisements
A 1940 advertisement in the New York Times is a beauty. It has compelling words and a cute little poem too.

There's a picture of a glamorous woman with full red lips and red nails, smoking a red-tipped Marlboro cigarette. The heading says: A BEAUTY TIP. Then it says:
New! Red beauty tips
... to match red lips
... and finger-tips!
On the other side of the pic it says: Those few extra pennies — when you choose Marlboro — buy infinitely finer tobaccos... richly milder blending... a cigarette truly distinguished, truly delightful. Ivory tips, Plain tips or Beauty tips! Now only 20c. Marlboro. America's Luxury Cigarette.

Lingua villosa nigra
Beg your pardon? Sorry to be impolite, and I do like to keep this newsletter positive, but this sent tongues wagging — black tongues that is!

Relatively harmless but gross, a black, hairy tongue occurs most regularly among men who smoke, so says a researcher from The University of Essen, Germany. This condition, caused by smoking and poor health, bad mouth hygiene, and sometimes with certain medicines, makes the tongue papilla grow up to 150% longer than normal and turn black or brown. Treatments to fix the problem sometimes do and sometimes don't work. The obvious advice from the researchers... quit smoking

See you with the next Hot Quit Newsletter.

Warmly
Megan
